1、 Precautions for using microporous filter membranes
1. Determination of Bubble Point: Measuring the pressure at the bubble point can reflect the pore size of the microporous filter membrane, which is closely related to the quality of the filtered solution and is also an important means to ensure the quality of the microporous filter membrane.
2. The pore size of the microporous filter membrane is conical, and the smooth side with a smaller pore size is the front side. The rough side with a large pore size is the opposite side. When installing, the front side should be facing downwards and the back side should be facing upwards, otherwise the pore size may be blocked by impurities and the filtration rate may be affected. When the temperature is low, the treated filter membrane should be immersed in injection water at the same temperature as the drug solution for 5-10 minutes to avoid rupture caused by the decrease in tensile strength of the filter membrane due to temperature difference.
3. To protect and extend the service life of the filter membrane, filter paper or silk cloth of the same size can be placed on the filter membrane (the silk cloth should be boiled with a mass concentration of 20 g · L-1 sodium sulfonate solution for about 30 minutes, and then cleaned with injection water) to prevent the membrane from cracking.
4. On the head of the exhaust pipe of the filter holder, fix a No. 16 infusion needle and use a water stop clip to control it, which can prevent the filter membrane from cracking due to excessive exhaust pressure and speed.
5. After use, place the microporous filter membrane in injection water to prevent drying, but do not soak it for too long. Microporous filter membranes that have lost water and dried cannot be used.
6. Do not sterilize the filter rack together with the filter membrane, otherwise the filter membrane will be brittle and wrinkled due to thermal expansion.
2、 Maintenance and upkeep of microporous membrane filter element
1. The core part of a precision microporous filter is the filter element, which is composed of special materials and is a vulnerable component that needs special protection.
2. After a precise microporous filter has been operating for a period of time, the filter element contains a certain amount of impurities. At this time, the pressure drop increases and the flow rate decreases. It is necessary to promptly remove impurities from the filter and clean the filter element.
3. When removing impurities, special attention should be paid to the precision filter element, which should not be deformed or damaged. Otherwise, if the filter element is reinstalled, the purity of the filtered medium will not meet the design requirements.
4. Some precision filters, such as bag filters and polypropylene filters, cannot be reused multiple times.
